When to get help

Pause here

Arrange a prompt in-person skin examination. Check the palms, soles, nails, scalp, mouth and other less-visible areas too: these changes can occur on every skin tone and do not need to be painful. Rapid change, a new bleeding or open sore, severe pain, fever or spreading warmth needs same-day medical care.
