When to get help

Pause here

Arrange an in-person medical review for persistent swelling, hard or thickened skin, skin folds or fluid leakage. Get same-day care if swelling starts suddenly, affects one limb with pain or warmth, becomes rapidly worse, or comes with fever or shivering. Limb pain or swelling with chest pain, breathlessness, coughing blood or collapse needs emergency care now. Skincare cannot establish the cause.
